RoadTrip!

I have a love/hate relationship with roadtrips. The feeling of getting on the road and traveling and seeing new places is something I've always enjoyed! However...the fact that it is very difficult to keep up with workout routines and all the junk food that is devoured along the way has a way of catching up with me by the time I get back home...
We went to Tacoma, WA this past week for some fun, and I'll admit, I greatly enjoyed the cooler weather there. It was around the upper 70s the whole time!

Some sweet iced tea at Sharis :)
My super comfy new tee from PacSun. A roadtrip must!
Borrowed ring from my mom's closet. Hehe, best place to shop! Everything's free ;)
(Please excused the chipped nail polish).
I'm in love with turquoise accented jewelry. Especially this statement necklace!

Summer Festivities!

So yesterday I was in our nearby city and was passing by the downtown area and heard some loud music. Naturally, I had to investigate. I parked the car, got out, and followed the music. Turns out there was a local band that was covering old rock songs from the 60s, 70s, and 80s! It was pretty crowded, with all sorts of people sitting on the benches, their fold-up chairs, and some out in the middle of the road just dancing. It made me smile, and unfortunately I didn't even think of photographing some of it until the very end. And then when I started taking a few shots I was given quite a few odd looks and even glares. Sadly, I let them intimidate me and slipped my camera back inside my purse. But next time there's one of these little concerts I'm not holding back!

Then today mom and I visited our new friend, Ruth. She's 66, a wildly funny, spunky lady, and a shopaholic like me. She's like the cool grandma I never had. Funny thing is, this was the 3rd time we've spent with her but she already feels like an old family friend :)
We went walking out to the canyon and I managed to snap a few decent shots. (Seeing as how last night's definitely weren't the best...)

Hope you're having a warm summer!

At-Home Photoshoot Extras

Thrifty Scores

There's nothing more exciting to me than going to an ancient thrift store run by sweet little grandmas and getting down and dirty in the clothes.
Did that sound a little weird? Haha, perverts!
Seriously, it's very satisfying when you pop into a dingy thrift store that's having a "EVERYTHING 25 CENTS" sale that's loaded with little treasures.
Combined, mom and I spent $6.75. Can't feel guilty about that kind of shopping!
So here are a few of my finds. And of course, I'll save the best for last. So keep scrolling. ;)
First off, this is the outfit I put together to go into town.
Shorts: vintage Gap (.50) Shirt: thrifted August Silk ($3) Bag: stolen from mom's closet ;) Necklace: DIY brooch-necklace Sandals: Ancient flip flops I've had forever!

Look at this nautical little combo! This bag will add a perfect sailor twist to a lot of my clothes, and those bright, neon yellow moccasins? They make me smile just looking at them. :)

I found these sweet little suede shoes at the bottom of their shoe rack and instantly knew I had to have them. I know, they're a little old-fashioned for a 17-year-old girl to own, but you know what? I don't care. Besides, I've always felt like I was born in the wrong century.

But of course, every girl in every century just has to own a pair of leather boots. I mean, come on! I love the heel on these, how they're not too high like my other pair. I feel ready to hit the town with these!

And then I stumbled across this lovely pleather bag. I love it! It's like those bucket bags that everyone's still toting around. Plus, the quilt look? Love love love!

Ah yes, a perfectly brand new, stainless, white pencil skirt. I know, I couldn't believe it either when I found it. I had to turn it inside out to check for holes or hidden stains, but it literally was perfect!

And last but not least...my best finds! This is a YL dress by Yair with some gorgeous rose patterning on the front. Best part is the way it fits! I know my boyfriend will love it ;) haha
Also, this light and springy trench coat. I've been looking for more neutrals/pastels to add to my wardrobe and this is the perfect thing for it!
My mom told me I look like Jackie Kennedy in this getup. Haha, what do you think?
Happy thrifting!

Fashion Faceoff

Although we raid each other's closet every now and then, Kirsten and I could not have a more different style if we tried. She's got the whole laid-back, cool girl look going on, and I tend to dabble in bohemian, trendy pieces. However, in these particular shots, Kirsten decided to glam it up a bit. Doesn't she look amazing??

Dress: thrifted J Crew ($5) Necklace: gift from Philippines, Heels: Merona brand found at garage sale ($2)

Next to her outfit I felt rather shabby...but at the same time, so very connected to my Igorot roots! (I am part Filipino, and that's the tribe my mother is from). This tribal(ish) maxi skirt is amazing! It hugs me just right and I'm loving the earthy tones in it. However, as of now, the only thing that goes with it is my white button-down...but that's okay. I'll keep searching for more options. Because I will make this skirt work in my wardrobe!

Skirt: thrifted ($2), Shirt: thrifted White Stag ($2), Belt: thrifted ($1), Necklace: from Philippines trip, Boots: gift from mother (so probably thrifted as well)

Country Girls

So last night I had my best friend Kirsten come over to spend the night and we stayed up watching I Am Number Four (good movie!) and Step Up 3. The thing is, we never got to the sleeping part...that's right, we still haven't gone to sleep and we are wired for the day! Thank goodness for sugary coffee and late (or should I say early?) fashion inspiration.
After browsing through my closet, we put together a few looks and aspired to imitate all these other fabulous fashion blogs. Take a look!

Tank: OP thrifted ($3), Button Down: thrifted White Stag ($2), Shorts: thrifted Converse One Star brand ($3), Belt: thrifted ($1), Shoes: flip-flops I've had forever

Dress: bought in Philippines, Shirt: garage sale for ($1), Necklace: garage sale gem ($1), Shoes: Gladiators from Fred Meyer ($22)
We ended up having so much fun, we did three rounds of pretending to be models, including three wardrobe changes! So, as of today, this will officially be our shared fashion blog. :) Just to have some fun and be silly, frivolous girls who love clothes and piecing together outfits! And in case you couldn't tell, we're both really into thrifting and finding cute pieces that are way affordable!
